In 2005, several state agencies working in the area of teen pregnancy prevention officially recognized parents as the primary educator of their child’s abstinence and sexuality education by offering Talk Early & Talk Often.  This nationally recognized parent education initiative aimed at helping parents of middle school youth talk with their child about abstinence and sexuality has, since its inception, received high praise from parents.

Michigan SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues) in Education Conference

Michigan recently passed bullying legislation that requires all schools to adopt a policy on bullying.  There are some students who are particularly vulnerable for being targeted by a bully.  They are youth who are or perceived to be gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered.  On February 3rd this conference will take place at Oakland University to help parents, teachers and those engaging with youth in schools discover ways to keep the school environment safe for all students.  I am honored to emcee this conf
